- Application for Permanent Residence
- Copy of passport and residence card
- Certificate of residence (Jūminhyō) showing all household members
- Resident tax assessment certificate and tax payment certificate (past 5 years recommended)
- Certificate of payment of social insurance premiums
- Proof of income (such as withholding tax slip, pay statements, etc.)
- Resident tax payment certificate
- Statement of reasons (explaining why permanent residence is desired)
Documents Related to the Employer or Business (for Work Visa Holders)
- Certificate of employment
- Certificate of registered matters of the employer (or income tax return if self-employed)
- Pay slips for the most recent three months
Documents Proving Family Relationships (for Spouse Visa Holders, etc.)
- Family register (koseki tōhon) or marriage certificate
- Copy of the residence card of the spouse and/or children (if living together)
